Reflective Workshop and Website

In order to evaluate the progress made in e-learning at the University of Teesside, the Pathfinder Project facilitated a workshop which reflected on the history of e-learning at Teesside, where we are now and our aspirations for the future.

The workshop provided an opportunity for staff to discuss the changes in learning and teaching at the University and to consider future changes in the approaches to teaching. Session participants included staff from each of the six schools as well as from the central support units and partner colleges and resulted in the creation of a shared metaphor for e-learning at Teesside, the result of which can be seen on this websites’ homepage. The feedback form the session was extremely positive and much of the findings from the session have formed the basis of the topics raised on this site.

How did the idea for the workshop and website come about?

The idea for this website came about during a Pathfinder Management Group meeting in April 2008. We were in M701, which is the CLQE training room, and on the wall were various posters , which included very vibrant pictures produced by Nick Payne ( a Graphic Facilitator) as part of workshops he had facilitated at Teesside. We discussed it would be useful to produce a graphic that represented e-learning at Teesside which we could use as an imagemap.

From this imagemap we could link to various resources in use at Teesside, but also those external ones which we had used as part of the Pathfinder project. So a decision was made to invite interested members of staff at the university and partner colleges who were involved in e-learning in various capacities to a workshop to develop this idea of a metaphor for e-learning at Teesside.
